Hiroharu Mori

defocused story

The work of Hiroharu Mori (*1969 in Kanagawa / Japan, lives in Yokohama) critiques social conventions and mechanisms of mass culture. In his videos, installations, and interventions in public space, Mori often explores mistranslations, questions of identity, and the tensions and contradictions of everyday life. Personal experiences, such as the paradoxical feeling of alienation in one’s own country – a feeling that arose especially after Mori’s return to Japan from the USA – form the focus of his works.
